Nice Baby Photography

Baby photography is relatively easy as the little ones are often sleeping. You have ample time to fix your shot and get the best possible picture. However, once babies do wake up, they are a bundle of unpredictable, wiggly motion, making photography difficult. If you are keen on taking photographs of your baby while he is awake, it is recommended that you get a camera with a fast shutter speed. Since most amateur photographers lack such equipment, it is best to seek the help of a professional baby photographer.

One has to be very careful with camera flashes around babies. Their eyes are very sensitive to harsh lights and a strong flash can damage their eyesight. It is best to take your baby's photographs in ample natural light and use the camera flash as sparingly as possible.

Remember that baby photography is about the baby, not the background, the pattern on the walls, or the dense foliage in your garden. Try to minimize background noise and keep things simple. A plain wall with a few lights for dramatic effect will be more than sufficient to capture memorable pictures.

Experiment with different zoom levels to capture various layers of detail. Take a picture of the whole baby, another of just the face, one of his toes or fingers, etc. These are memories you will have for a lifetime, so don't compromise on the detail, or the number and quality of photographs.

Also, try to capture the different moods/phases of your baby in your pictures. You can have a photo of the baby sleeping, another of him eating, drinking milk, or laughing/smiling. As a parent, you know your baby best, and can evoke different moods in him. Capturing each emotion, each mood will give you a set of precious memories you can look at over and over again.

Finally, if you are keen to take photos of your baby while he is awake, try to get a camera with motion control. Babies often have unpredictable, spontaneous movements, and a camera with motion control will minimize the blur, giving you the best pictures possible.

Baby photography can be a joyful experience for the parent as well as the baby. Even the very act of photographing the baby will yield precious memories. You can either take the photographs yourself, or take the help of a professional baby photographer, but make sure that you have ample pictures of this phase of your child's life.
